Simple configuration
Configure sorting, post volume, and duration
From the general settings, editors connect the web part to a SharePoint site and the Notice Board Posts list, then choose how announcements are sorted: by creation date, post title, or author, in ascending or descending order. They define the number of posts visible on the board and set a post duration in months, so each announcement automatically expires after the configured visibility window. Editors can also limit photo uploads to between 0 and 5 images per post and customize the Add post button text.
Built-in approval workflow with Power Automate
Announcements can be moderated before they go live. The Bulletin Boards component integrates an approval workflow through Power Automate, letting you assign an approver group from Azure AD and display a custom approval disclaimer to users. Posts are stored in the Notice Board Posts list with mandatory Title and Body fields, plus optional approval fields that track the approval date, the approver, and the current status. This gives communication teams control over published content while keeping the contribution process open to everyone.

Who can publish announcements on the SharePoint bulletin board?
Everyone in the company has access to the bulletin board and can publish announcements. Each post includes a title, a description, and a photo from the author's profile, and other users can reach the post owner directly through the email icon shown on the announcement.
Can announcements be reviewed before they are published?
Yes. The component integrates an approval workflow through Power Automate. Editors assign an approver group from Azure AD and can show a custom approval disclaimer. Each post in the Notice Board Posts list carries approval fields that record the approval date, the approver, and the current status.
How long do announcements stay visible on the board?
Post duration is configurable. In the general settings, editors set a visibility window in months, after which announcements expire automatically. Editors also control how many posts appear on the board and how they are sorted, by creation date, post title, or author, in ascending or descending order.
What layout options are available for the bulletin board?
The IAI - Notice Board web part offers a default layout for dedicated pages and a compact layout for shared pages, with a link to the extended version. Editors can also toggle the background, choose a shadow style (High contrast, Light, or Dark), and set a custom application title, so the board fits any intranet page.
